Greenwich Cyclists will be taking a ride down the Thames path

CHOSEN AREA: Deptford and New Cross has been selected as one of three areas in London to take forward the second phase of the Government's City Growth Strategies, which aims to put the business agenda at the centre of urban regeneration. It is not yet known how much money Deptford and New Cross will get.

GO FOR A RIDE: Greenwich Cyclists will be taking a ride down the Thames path from Cutty Sark Gardens to the Woolwich ferry and back at 6.15pm tonight. A tour of the Docklands leaves from Cutty Sark Gardens at 10am on Saturday. Visit www.greenwichcyclists.org.uk CASH BOOST: Lloyds TSB Foundation has awarded £4,000 towards the salary of a volunteer project co-ordinator at  Greenwich Housing Rights. And it has awarded £7,500 towards a training programme at the Lewisham Indo-Chinese Community School.

GIVE BLOOD: The National Blood Service is encouraging people to donate blood. There are two sessions at the mobile unit outside Asda, in Bugsby Way, Charlton, on April 14. One from 2pm to 4.30pm and from 5.30pm to 8pm.

Four Reigate Priory Athletics Club members took part in the Thames tow path 10-mile race on Sunday

our Reigate Priory Athletics Club members took part in the Thames tow path 10-mile race on Sunday.

The multi-terrain course, which started just beside  Chiswick Bridge, was well organised by West Four Harriers and sponsored by London Pride.

The run took in a lot of the towpath on the clear morning. At the three-mile mark, the runners passed Concorde being transported on the Thames from Isleworth Docks to Edinburgh.
