Thames Head to Oxford
Representing the starting point (if travelling towards downstream towards London) the section from the source of the Thames (or Thames Head) to Oxford is primarily rural and dominated by agriculture. Here the river is sometimes difficult to follow but the calm is deafening and the clean, fresh air a joy to behold. This section is approximately 80kms long.
Oxford to Henley
Travelling through Oxford we gain an insight into this famous University town and can stop off en route to make the most of this city's offerings. Otherwise, should you continue on, you will discover a transitioning Thames, travelling through increasingly human occupied land with grand houses, farms, villages and briefly, hills and high ground dominating the landscape. Passing through the industrialised Reading and into the glorious town of Henley you get a real sense of habitation balanced with river culture. This section is about 75kms long.
Henley to Windsor
Travelling on from the town of Henley you pass through the rival rowing town of Marlow, past Cookham and Cliveden House, through Maidenhead and onto Windsor. This journey takes you through some of the most typical Upper Thames territory along the Path with more grand houses, famous residents, sporting activities and places to visit, you are spoiled with things to do and see. This section is about 45 kms long.
Windsor to Twickenham
Passing on from Windsor and leaving this famous Royal town behind, we move into another transitional section of the River where we pass from countryside landscape to a dominant inhabited section as we flow on towards the metropole of London. With wealthy suburbs and growing industrial complexes this is a mixture of residential and commercial landscape that makes for a pleasant contrast. This section is about 40kms.
Twickenham to the Sea
In this final section of the river we discover the Thames in London, a tidal Thames that is dependent on the sea and has served man for centuries making London the largest sea port in the world in the 19th Century, fuelling Britains strength during the Industrial Revolution and making it the sea faring might it once was. This section is about 80kms long.

Please would you be kind enough to let me know what the distances in KM and Miles are from the following along the River Thames –
