Aconbury East is a 1970s ward block that has been undergoing extensive works for at least 4 years. The top two floors now house modern wards connected to the main hospital by a large link bridge. The lower floors had been externally re-clad but internally left alone. Work is now in progress to convert them into a new emergency department with a single story extension at ground level. This has necessitate removing consultant offices and the switchboard, and knocking out the newly clad wall on this side to reveal the stripped out interior of the ground floor. Those trees survived the earlier work but I don’t think they will escape this time.
