SU7273 : Reading Transport bus 29 on Kings Road – 1971

by

Passing the office block – still surviving in 2020 – of the former Huntley and Palmers biscuit factory. It is using the contra-flow bus lane, one of the earliest of its nature, introduced initially to enable trolleybuses to use their existing wiring rather than go to the expense of erecting new wiring along London Road.

Bus 29 is a Dennis Loline III with East Lancs bodywork, new in 1962.

This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=2114547&displayclass=slide
