TQ0765 : Shepperton Ferry

by

With the exception of a twenty year gap until 1986, there has been a ferry across the Thames between Shepperton and Weybridge for around 500 years.

It was also famously featured in the HG Wells novel, War of the Worlds.

The ferry is a vital link on the Thames Path.

The present service is operated by the Nauticalia chandlery shop. Crossings are made during the day subject to demand every 15 minutes. Passengers must ring a bell on the quarter hour to summon the ferryman.
