TQ1777 : Brentford Gauging Lock

At Brentford Gauging Lock the toll keeper checked how much cargo boats were carrying. A gauging rod was used to measure how high a boat sat out of the water. The information was used to calculate the amount of cargo carried and the toll due for passage along the canal.
