TQ3480 : Charity children, St John’s, Wapping

by

The church of St John’s, Wapping was built in 1790 and destroyed by bombing in the Second World War, although the tower remains. This is on the front of the former school, erected by subscription in 1760 with figures of a charity boy and girl over two of the doorways. A distant view of these can be seen at https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2362376
